The BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead is a stunning venue for a wedding, and Kate & Alastair’s big day was styled beautifully around the gallery with elegance and simplicity to pair with the venue itself.
Kate and her bridesmaids got ready at Mal Maison just over the water in Newcastle upon Tyne. Their morning was a lovely laid back affair whilst the gentlemen made their way over to the Baltic in their kilts, and I got to find out what a man keeps in his sporran (apparently the answer is cigarettes and Skittles!). I had fun running back and forth across the Millennium Bridge to shoot both parties, although I’m not sure the harbour master would agree as I pelted my way over the bridge just as they wanted to raise it. Good job I like running 🙂
With a large number of guests the hall was full to watch their moving ceremony. The readings were heartfelt and I have a particular fondness for candle ceremonies.
After the ceremony we went outside for a few photographs. I love being able to throw confetti in front of the entrance! Kate also threw her bouquet, it didn’t go quite as planned and the resulting image is a great example of reportage photography at its best; some things you just can’t script.
Inside they had a drinks reception and we took a few pictures of the happy couple around the gallery itself before heading back downstairs for speeches and the meal. It was a wonderful day for a wonderful couple. Wishing you both the happiest of futures x
