What is a Creative Session?

A creative session is about making photographs that are not just pretty poses on a plain background. These are photos that have a strong identity; a distinct concept; wild makeup; signature lighting etc. These are images that stand out, and will make you stand out.

Who Are Creative Sessions For?

While the main audience for this type of photography is going to be models and performers, anyone can book a creative session. You can book one as a gift for a loved one, or a fun idea for yourself; this doesn’t have to be for professionals or even aspiring professionals. You can book one just because you think it’s a cool thing to do. After all, why should models have all the fun? I love a good vanity project, and if you want to create some stunning photos of yourself because you want to, then that’s a good enough reason in my book.

This type of session is also ideal for actors, models, DJs, musicians, dancers, and anyone who wants a way to promote themselves that’s a little bit outside of the ordinary.

For Models, You Say?

There are certain basics that are expected from a modelling portfolio: standard headshots, mid-shots, full length images showcasing a variety of poses and outfits. Those are the staples of a starter portfolio, and everyone has to start somewhere. However, you need to showcase the type of work that you want to do, and if you want to move into high-end editorial modelling then it’s a good idea to have a few images in your portfolio that really aren’t the standard. Think perfume adverts, art photography, the type of photos that make you stop and just think “wow”. Rather than waiting for an opportunity to pop up, create that chance to expand your portfolio yourself and book a creative shoot.

I want a creative shoot, but I don’t know what sort of images I want?

It helps if you have an idea of the kind of pictures you’re looking to create but, if you don’t, I am more than happy to come up with something. If you could do with a prompt, here’s some starting points to help you:

Sexy vampire
Mermaid
Forest sprite
Disco diva
Sea witch
Baba Yaga
Viking
Just you in some wild makeup being fabulous
Ice queen/king
Evil siren

There’s so much scope. Even if all you have is a colour, a mood, an outfit, or just the desire to do something different, it’s cool. Drop me a line and let’s see where it takes us.
