County Durham Maternity Shoot – Ren & Fahad

You know how sometimes you meet people and very quickly there’s that feeling of “you’re my kind of people”? That’s how it was when I first spoke to Ren over the phone. She was just so upbeat, fun, and genuine.

Initially, Ren booked me to photograph her sister’s wedding. It was a fantastic couple of days, and afterwards we kept in touch on social media. When Ren and Fahad got pregnant she messaged me to arrange a shoot. She wanted to celebrate her pregnancy and have something beautiful to show her child so that they would always know that they were wanted, and loved, before they’d even made it into the world.

The hardest part of the shoot was keeping it a secret. Only the closest people knew about the baby, so I had to keep it under wraps. Ren has a huge online following as The Travelette where she documents her travels and encourages other Muslim women to do the same. She visits some stunning places, and I highly recommend following her for a glimpse of some beautiful places, to read some inspiring captions, and envy her wardrobe (seriously lass, how do you do it!?).

We took these photos in the summer at The Black Horse at Beamish. They were so generous in giving us free roam of the grounds. There was no wedding on that day, so we weren’t going to disturb anyone. It was so much fun, and I think the results speak for themselves.
