Halton Grove Wedding Photography - Jodie & Tony

When Tony & Jodie first booked Halton Grove for their wedding it hadn’t been fully renovated. They took a leap of faith and, like Harrison Ford in Indian Jones when he stepped off the ledge, their faith was justified. What a place! A stone’s throw from Corbridge, Halton Grove is a newly renovated Victorian farmhouse and stables set in the wilds of Northumberland. It has the perfect balance of old world comfortable charm, and modern chic beauty.

After having a good old wander to familiarise myself with the place and the best spot for some top wedding photography, I went to see Jodie in the bridesmaids’ hut. A low-key buzz of excitement was running through the place, not least because Hugo had just arrived. Hugo is adorable, and I think I did very well not to fill the gallery with nothing but pictures of his perfect little canine face. I could have, he was a very good boy. Special mention to Annabel from Pawfect Occasions for looking after the little guy. She specialises in wedding dog chaperoning and colour me impressed! Anyway, back to the day!

Flipping between Jodie and hanging out with Tony in the bridal hut (what a view!), I also got the first sneak peek at Jodie’s surprise for Tony. I love a good wedding surprise, and this is by far and away one of the best. Tony is a huge Star Wars fan (see, that Harrison Ford comment looks less weird now), so Jodie had arranged for the 501st Garrison to attend in full Star Wars Empire costume to present Tony with a custom made Lando Calrissian cloak.

It was EPIC. Deborah, the celebrant, did a great job of weaving the surprise into the ceremony and the reactions were priceless. Tony had no idea, and it was such a fun addition to the wedding.

I love all the little touches that made this an elegant Star Wars wedding. Jodie and Tony managed to strike the perfect balance keeping the elements present and fun, but not kitschy. It’s a tough line to walk, but they did it. BB8 ring bearer, porgs on the seating plan, little Baby Yoda statue, a Millennium Falcon crashed into the cake: just enough to make it themed, but not over the top.

I think my favourite thing (after the kid dressed as a Jawa), was the entrance to the evening reception. An honour guard made of light sabres. So much fun, and a great photo opportunity.

What an incredible day. I look forward to going back to Halton Grove, and seeing if anyone can one up this wedding! It’s a tough act to follow:

So there you have it, what an incredible day! Storm Troopers, adorable dog, light sabres, robots, and more cake than you can even think about eating. Congratulations Jodie and Tony, I hope the rest of your married lives together are as epic as your wedding day x
