Matfen Brewery, also known as High House Farm and Brewery, is the perfect place for a wedding, and some glorious photography. Laura and Rich tied the knot in the middle of summer with a beautiful and brightly coloured festival themed wedding.
Laura and her bridesmaids got ready at Tulip Cottage. It was a gorgeous little holiday home in Horsley, not too far from the brewery. With lots of light, and plenty of rooms it was a great place to get ready. There was lots of space for the flower girls to run around, and for the grown ups to relax.
As the cottage had a terrace I decided to make use of it for photographing the dress. It’s a rare treat to have that amount of space for the morning details so it would have been rude not to! I’m very pleased with the result, natural light is always the best light after all.
I adore the styling on Laura and Rich’s big day. They opted for a festival theme so everything was fantastically relaxed, mis-matched, and colourful. The table centrepieces were all distinct containing vases of flowers, picture frames, and most importantly dinosaurs! Laura had hand-painted all the dinosaurs to be different colours. My favourite was definitely the purple T-Rex. Because who doesn’t love dinosaurs?
The festival theme continued with the stunning bouquets and ribbons. Laura wore a flower crown and her train even had a gorgeously delicate green dip-dye on the end.
At High House Farm and Brewery – the official name for Matfen Brewery – the marquee was decked out with multi-coloured lanterns in the ceiling, and crates and beer bottles for the seating plan. This was clearly not a formal day, and all the guests were happy to let their hair down.
For the evening they booked a face paint artist and a live band for their first dance. I always enjoy listening to Switch play, they really know how to make a wedding come alive. They’re lovely people too!
Laura and Rich’s whole wedding day was pretty darn special. There was so much attention to detail, and you could tell they really wanted to include all their guests in their day. My favourite touch was the specially brewed beer (Chuffin Ale) – thanks for letting me partake guys! It was dedicated to Laura’s dad who starred on the pump badge sporting a flower necklace and captain’s hat. Very dandy.
From start to finish the day was full of fun and laughter. The bridal prep was relaxed, the ceremony was informal, the speeches were heartfelt and funny, and the party was banging. Really though, what more could you ask for from the happiest day of your life?
Congratulations Laura and Rich, and here’s to the happiest of futures together x
