Best Wedding Photography of 2021

After everything that happened in 2020, I was expecting 2021 to be pretty special and it certainly didn’t disappoint. After so long without being able to see friends, family, and loved ones, everybody was so ready to let loose. That incredible energy translated into some unbelievable moments; I just wish I could share them all. That would take far too long, of course, so I’ve curated a small collection of favourites here.

How do you ever choose the best pictures that you’ve taken? It’s hard, I’ll tell you that much, because I know the stories behind each and every one. Sometimes it’s tempting to include a photograph that has a unique emotional meaning, but that would be lost on those who weren’t there to experience it first hand. So I’ve tried to include photos that stand alone, yet still convey the feelings of the day.

I’ve grouped the pictures by time of day, because each part of the day has its own idiosyncratic nature. Mornings are full of butterflies and expectation. The afternoon holds the big moments: the ceremony, the speeches, the formalities. The evening is the time to let all that tension go, and go wild. Wedding days are truly amazing.

The Morning

Wedding mornings are a glorious microcosm of the day: the buzz, the anticipation, the excitement, the nerves, the glasses of prosecco. I love watching the transformation as make up is applied, hair is fixed and dresses are donned. The camaraderie is like nothing else and I think these moments are really special.

The Afternoon

Of course it’s nerve-wracking walking down the aisle, you’re about to make a commitment to the person you love most in the whole wide world in front of lots of people! It should be so easy; you say ‘I love you’ every day, but somehow this is different. But you do it, and it’s great. Then you get to go and drink a glass of something glorious, see your friends and family, and get some pictures taken. Then there’s the food. Did I say food? I meant feast. What is a celebration without a feast, I ask you? Speeches first, then food. Food is better after a toast.

The Evening

This is when the gloves come off, and the crowd goes wild. After all, it’s been an incredible day and now it’s time to let your hair down to your favourite tunes, an epic band, and some top quality entertainment. End on a high note. It’s been wonderful.

I hope you enjoyed looking through this collection of some of my best wedding photography in 2021. If you like what you see or have any questions please feel free to contact me or view my North East Wedding Photography page and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
