Spanish City Wedding Photography - Steven & Dan

Every wedding is special, and every wedding is special in its own unique way. Daniel and Steven’s wedding at the Spanish City in Whitley Bay stands out because of the love that stood out on the day; the love between them was so strikingly apparent from start to finish.

In the morning, when I asked Steven about the buttonholes, he was so proud telling me how Daniel had come up with the idea for the keys, I could tell how much Dan meant to him as he explained their themes and how he credited Dan with so much creativity and enthusiasm. They had decided on a Secret Garden theme with beautiful greenery, the key to the garden (or our hearts), and a fresh natural look to compliment the seaside resort. That love was felt through the whole day, from the ceremony, to the speeches, the sunset shots on the beach, and the first dance. When the DJ made his announcement after the first dance he said that it was one of the most emotional he’d seen in a long while. He meant it. He was right.

When wedding professionals are struck by the love between you you know you’ve got a good thing going on!

Out of season weddings are always a big highlight for me. It’s an opportunity to be really creative with the constraints brought about by the weather and I am delighted with the sunset shots we captured. Being in the North East there comes a point when you simply can’t get sunset images. Between early May and early August the sun doesn’t start to set until past 9pm, and we don’t technically get night time (only Astronomical twilight - spot the nerd). But out of season the sun sets earlier and, if you’re lucky, it sets at a time that’s convenient for photographs. We were so lucky! The only downside was that it was February on the North Sea, a time not known for its inherent warmth. It didn’t matter, we had loads of fun and managed some stunning pictures.

Spanish City weddings will always be special because of the affection that locals have for the venue, and I’m delighted to have been a part of Steven and Dan’s big day. Theirs was my first wedding of 2022 and the bar has been set high!

Congratulations Steven and Dan, it’s been a pleasure.

P.S. My Old Fashioned is better than yours :P Xx
